The opacity of the rheumatoid peri-articular deposit is oftenwell shown in a stiff ankle, while the opposite or general atrophiccondition in the same disease is conspicuous in the accompanyingradiogram, which is of interest as having been taken in the earlydays of radiography (Fig. 134). The subject of the photograph was a lady, aged thirty-one, whowas attacked with the disease at the age of thirteen.
