Venetian gondola, 14th century. The gondola is black, with a cabin covered in black carpet, and a white carpet on the prow. The woman passenger wears her hair tied with pearls, and a pink robe. She's accompanied by a duenna in black. The gondolier wears a red cap, velvet doublet, white shirt, black belt, purse and dagger. From a painting by Gentile Bellini in the Academy of Fine Arts, Venice.
