May 24, 1919 HARD W ARE AND M E TA L 63 Favor Trade Sections in Convention First Two Days of Future Conventions Devoted to Trades-Third Day for General Convention—Will Try OutDivision of Province Into Sections WithPaid Secretary THE proposed holding of tradesection conventions, and the divis-on of the province into districtbranches, were important matters whichbrought forth much discussion in theWednesday morning session. Afterconsideration it was decided that the. S. D. McMICKEN, Moose Jaw, Sask., elected President of the Saskatchewan first two days of future conventions willbe set aside to the trade sections, thegeneral convention being held on thethird day. An amendment to exempttrades not included in general storesand hold their conventions at some othertime of year was voted down. W. L. McQuarrie, Saskatoon, support-ed this division into trade sections, stat-ing that during the first two days thesections could decide on important mat-ters to be considered and there wouldthen be something to work on in thegeneral convention. S. McMicken saw difficulties ahead,and issued a grave warning. We havegot the Retail Merchants Associationinto one association. We hav e beenfighting for twenty years to keep awayfrom individual associations of the var-ious trades. This convention is held forthe good of all. There should not besectional meetings.
