In the early springof 1852 a company of the veterans of 19, from Manti,camped upon the ground now included in Mt. Pleasant,and began the building of the Queen City of colonists were commanded by Madison D. Hamil-ton, who erected a saw mill and began to cut. lumberfor building houses.
