A Splintering of Lances
The 2011 Saline (Michigan) Celtic Festival featured full-contact jousting. Unlike other renaissance fairs, the Saline event doesn't put intrusive barriers between the lists and the audience, which makes for some wonderful photo opportunities. I caught this one just as the opponents splintered lances on each other's shield.
