McCLAIN Like many other of our good, ener-getic business men, Dr. C. A. R. Mc-Clain got his ytart in life by hardwork upon the farm. The D:ctorwas born in Huntingdon county nearNew Grenada (Fulton County), Pa.,Sept. 21, 1875, the son of Samuel Eveline Shore McClain. The Doc-tor is of S-cotch-Irish extr-scticn, andhas inherited considerable energy andzeal from his ancestry. Because ofhis perseverance, the Doctor decidedwhen a young man to -become a prac-titioner of medicine, and having cliosen a professional career, he attendeda normal summer school at McCon-nellsburg, later a year at JuniataCollege, and havihg pursued the ne-cessary preparatory work, he matri-culated at the Medico Chirui-gical 410. Dr. C. A. R. McClain Coll-ege in Philadelphia in the fall of1895. The Doctor graduated fromthat institution in the spring of afterward entered into businessat Cassville, .July, 1898. He remainedin Cassville until 1903, when he cameto Mount Union as successor to R. McCarthy, who at that timeielinquished his practice of medi-cine. It was not long until Dr. Mc-Clain had built up a large practicein this community and had won theesteem of many of our people. Todayhe is one of the popular physicians 411 mi. the cciuity. conducts a widely ex-tended practice about Mount Union? vicinity, facilitates his work byiue?,ns of an automobile, and has in-stalled suitable modern apparatus forthe treatment of most any diseaseswhich afflict mankind. The Doctor was married to MissMeta A. Hunter, draighter of the lateDr. R. I. Hunter of Wells Valley, Ful-ton County, Pa., and to them havebeen born 4 children, namely: Fred,Fiober
