Dewey, 63, was born at Quechee, Vt., April 8, prepared for college at the Green Mountain Institute, South Woodstock,Vt., and entered the University in the spring of 1863, graduating B. S. in 1865;was a drill sergeant in the corps of cadets; valedictorian of his class; memberof the AI n Fraternity; received the degree of M. S. from the University in1902, and A. Heis president of the Woodstock Rail-way Co.; was director of the ExeterMachine Co., of Exeter, N. H., forseveral years; has served as trusteeof N. U. from 1890 to date. Heis a vice-president of the HomeMarket Club of Boston. He is aRepublican in politics and repre-sented his town in the Legislaturein 1902-03. He has been twice married;first, January 21, 1869, to AnnaFrances Metcalf of Boston, who diedMarch 27, 1904. Five daughterswere born to them. He was againmarried, February 26, 1908, to GraceEmily Strong of Quechee, Vt.
