Ptolemaic map of the old world, surrounded by clouds and eleven windheads with their names in banners. The continents are oddly shaped and southern Africa is shown connected to east Asia by a great southern continent ("Terra incognita"). There is a very large Taprobana (Sri Lanka) in the Indian Ocean and the Indian subcontinent is severely truncated. The Nile is shown originating in a series of lakes in a mountain range.
