Major Jeffrey Cannet of the 106th Rescue Wing assigned to the New York Air National Guard accepts the Slovenian Medal for Merit in the military field award from President Borut Pahor of Slovenia, May 21, 2017. The ceremony took place at the Permanent Mission of the Republic of Slovenia office to the United Nations, NY, NY. Cannet, of the 102nd rescue squadron, was the HC-130 aircraft commander for the international rescue mission to render aid to crew members injured in an explosion on board the motor vessel Tamar that began on April 24th.
