A masked Palestinian youth helps to carry an injured friend away from the frontlines in the Eastern Jerusalem city of Abu Dis. It appeared the young man was hit in the upper thigh by a steel coated bullet that the Israeli soldiers shot. Following the suspicious death of 32-year-old Palestinian, Yousuf Hasan al-Ramouni, 32, from al-Tur in East Jerusalem, heavy clashes erupted in many parts of Eastern Jerusalem Monday morning and continued late into the night. Palestinians across Jerusalem were outraged by the death, saying that Jewish Israeli settlers killed the Palestinian as an act of revenge. Al-Ramouni was found hung in the back of an Israeli bus early Monday morning. He was a bus driver for the company. Israeli authorities ruled out murder, though the autopsy showed wounds not consistent with suicide. Hours before al-Ramouni’s death, a Jewish Israeli settler was stabbed in Jerusalem by an alleged Palestinian suspect. This string of violence follows a month of upheaval in Jerusalem and across the West Bank, mainly due to Israeli authorities restricting Palestinians from entering Al-Aqsa Mosque, as well as a rise in Jewish Israeli settler violence against Palestinians (Photo by Anna Ferensowicz / Pacific Press)
