Stillwell, led theway, followed by the iSth, 21st, and 74th Ohio, the nthMichigan, the 19th Illinois, and 37th Indiana after charge was made, and gallantl} repulsed bythe Confederates, till General Negley brought up thereserxes, charging across the river, and they, supported l\v Stanleys cavalry, turned the fortune of the day. On they swept with irresistible force ; the Confederate right wing was the lirst to gi\c way, ;ind retreated
