Château de Puivert, one of the Cathar castles. Square tower. Aude, Languedoc, France. Dated from the 12th century. The origin of the current castle is dated in the early 13th century. It was conquered in 1210 by Simon de Montfort, after three days of siege fighting against the Cathar or Albigensian heresy.
