Fairfax House, High Street, Putney, Wandsworth, Greater London Authority, 1878. Fairfax House, seen looking south east from Putney High Street with the stables immediately beyond the house. Despite a campaign to save it, the house was demolished in 1887. The 'shell' porch was salvaged and reused in a house in West Hampstead. This image appears in ‘William Field’s Photographs of Putney’, compiled by Dorian Gerhold and Michael Bull for the Wandsworth Historical Society.
