George Sessions received a common school education, and left home at the age ofseventeen to make his own way in the world. He came to this town, working at firstas a farm laborer; then for twelve years at the State Lunatic Asylum on Summerstreet. His first business venture was in the firm of Howe & Sessions in the manufac-ture of tools for shoemakers, about 1848, The directory of 1849 calls him a boot treemanufacturer, with place of business in Heywoods building, residing at No, i Arch fr m. ^.^^.
