MIT students Zackary M.
MIT students Zackary M. Anderson '09, Russell J. Ryan '09, and Alessandro Chiesa '09 were sued by the Boston MBTA after they attempted to give a presentation at the 2008 DEFCON conference on the serious security flaws in the MBTA's fare-collection system as part of the research they did with Samuel G. McVeety G for their final project in the MIT course , 'Computer and Network Security.' A judge has since lifted the restraining order that prevented the three from discussing their research.
