The O'Shaughnessy Dam in Yosemite National Park spills water through several sluice gates.

The O'Shaughnessy Dam is located on the Tuolumne River in Yosemite National Park in California. Its construction created the Hetch Hetchy reservoir, which is a major source of potable water for the city of San Francisco. The dam itself is part of a 500 MW hydroelectric scheme. John Muir and The Sierra Club strongly objected (unsuccessfully) to the construction of this dam in the early 1900s.
