Following the ordinarymethod of laying brick the leaders give a Flemish bond. The ordinance re-quires that such walls be laid with mortar composed of 3 parts of richlime mortar and 1 part of cement. They may be used only in 1-storvbuildings where the height of the story does not exceed 9 ft., erected outsidefire limits Nos. 1, 2, 3 and 4. Three courses of solid brick wall are requiredat the top under all ceiling and roof joists. The length of the wall, unlesssupported laterally, is limited to 24 feet. 98 THE ARCHITECT AND ENGINEER.
