Two oak barrel staves properly fitted makevery good clamp sides. Pinieliiii^j^ Buekle Holes.—When it is desired to makea hole through a strap for a buckle tongue, do not attempt tomake it by thrusting the blade of a knife through. If there isnothing better than the knife to use, make the hole by turning asmall ])ladc round and round, until it is drilled, instead of cutthrough. For making these holes nothing is so good as a punch, which may be bought for fifteen or twenty cents. Punch fromback side to the front, as there is less liability of the grain of theleather cracking from the strain on tlu* buckle tongue, and to be tlie cause event-ually, of the leather tearing, as it causes such a cr(\ise where the tongue cateliesthat it injures the tcxtinc of the Icallur and i-nlargis llu hole more or less;.
