A species iiUied to the preceding, described as follows: " The body is slender, tail greatly attenuated, head constituting something more than one-lifth of the total length. Eye rather small, subelliptical, its diam- eter (5^ times in the entire length of the head. The posterior extremity of the maxilltiry extends to a vertical line drawn posteriorly to the an- terior edge of the orbit. Anterior margin of the dorsal fin nearer the base of the caudal than the extremity of the snout. Anterior margins of the ventral (ins somewhat nearer the extremity of the snout than the base of the caudal. The lateral line is nearly concurrent with the ven- tral outline.
