Biodegradable food packaging. Tray of kiwi fruit sealed in a wrapper made from starch-based plastic. Starch-based materials have the advantage of being compostable. When disposed of they are decomposed by microbial activity. The starch used to make this packaging was sourced from a non-genetically modified crop (Non-GM).
