I shall always have a warm spot in my heart for this species, because it gave me my first life history of the genus. Eggs of this moth were found under the bark of a weeping-willow, and they began to hatch on April twentieth. These Catocalas were less beautiful than some varieties. They behaved well pr J on June twenty-fifth yielded the first moths. These moths showed "petticoats" of salmon and black, while on each gray *horax there was a very good delineation of a hound's head, with small eyes and long, drooping ears. 114.
