In the expanded tabular bones theossification spreads outwards from the centres, and the marginal portions, in the earlier stages,present more or less the form of radiated fibres or spicula. At birth the sutural edges, andespecially the angles, are incomplete, the bones being united and the interspaces filled up byfibrous tissue.
