Water bear claws, coloured scanning electron micrograph (SEM). Water bears (tardigrades) are tiny invertebrates that live in aquatic and semi-aquatic habitats. They are found throughout the world, including regions of extreme temperature, such as hot springs, and extreme pressure, such as deep underwater. This water bear was obtained from a cold, icy environment. Its claws enable it to move around on icy surfaces.
