This image may not be used to state or imply ESA endorsement of any company or product Ariane 5 rocket launch preparations. Preparations at the Guiana Space Centre in French Guiana, for the VA233 launch on an Ariane 5 rocket of four Galileo satellites. The rocket and its payload are being transferred from the Final Assembly Building (BAF) to the ELA-3 launch zone. The launch took place on 17 November 2016, with satellites 15-18 deployed in orbit. The European Space Agency's Galileo navigation system will consist of 30 satellites orbiting over 23,000 kilometres above the Earth. It is scheduled for completion in 2020.
