It is yellow incolor, the head and thorax much narrower than the body, andthe wing-covers have three broad, black stripes. It is rarelyabundant nowa-days, though at one time a somewhat importantspecies, and it may be easily controlled by the use of the fact it is the treatment adopted for the better-known Colo-rado beetle that has in a large measure exterminated the Lema. Somewhat allied in form are two species of Crioceris, bothfeeding on asparagus, and both introductions from Europe. Thecommon asparagus-beetle, C. asparagi, is about one-fourthof an inch in length, the wing-covers black with red or yellowmarkings, the thorax red with black dots. It hibernates as
