Arlstoloclila, or Pipe Vine. Sometimes called Dutchman's Pipe, from the curious form of its flow- ers, resembling an old-fashioned pipe; a strong, twining vine with large leaves; suitable for porches. .50c.; small size, 33c. Ampelopsis Veitchii. Also known as Japanese or Boston Ivy. The most beautiful climt)ing vine in the list; smaller and more delicate than the American variety, but very hardy; much used for covering brick buildings, churches, wood or sfone walls and trellises; unsurpassed for rock worji, baskets and vases. Leaves turn brilliant carmine in the fall. In many prominent cities like Boston, on Commonwealth and Columbus avenue, the beautiful vine covers complete fronts for many blocks. Many churches and residences on Fifth avenue. New York, and many small brick and wooden cottages in small and large towns are covered with this vine. It is very hardy, and makes a growth of from 15 to 25 feet in 2 to 4 years. Several hundred thousands are sold annually. Small plants, BOSTON IVY, AMl'BLOPdlS VEITCHII. Bignonia Grandiflora, Scarlet Trumpet Creeper. A hardy, faft grower, suitable for cover- ing walls, buildings, etc. Produces in August large scarlet, trumpet-shaped flowers in clusters; is hardy, the tops dying ofi in winter, making new growth from root each year. 25c.
