The bridegroom is generally dressed in akuftan with red stripes, and a red gibbeh, with a Kash- MAERIAGE. meer shawl of the same colour for his turban ; and walksbetween two friends similarly dressed. The prayers arecommonly performed merely as a matter of ceremony ;and it is frequently the case that the bridegroom doesnot pray at all, or ])rays without having previously per-formed the wudoo, like memlooks, who say their prayersonly because
