Pentewan, Cornwall

Pentewan, Cornwall, was once a thriving China Clay port, with a harbour protected by lock gates. The entrance eventually silted up with the waste sand washed doen from the local clay workings. The river that brought this waste is called the White River, as it was white in colour due to all the mica suspended in it.
