The Puerto Rico State Guard celebrated a one-of-a-kind wedding ceremony in their armory at the municipality of Ceiba, Puerto Rico, October 23. The armory doubled as a wedding chapel for this event but also doubles as at the Regional Staging Area-12 where food and water is staged to be delivered to those in need during the ongoing relief efforts in the Island after Hurricanes Irma and María left the Island in dire condition. Sgt. 1st Class Cesar Crespo, from the State Guard’s 502nd Engineer Battalion and his fiancée, Johana Delgado, were slated to get married when the hurricanes struck the Island putting their wedding dream on indefinite hold and thwarting the general situation since now Crespo was actively working as part of the relief efforts. The couple got the encouragement from their friends and relatives to perform the wedding event before the wedding license expired since there would be a slim chance to get another license under the actual circumstances. With ‘all systems go’ the chaplain officialized the short ceremony amid pallets of food and water pushed to the side thus making way for the bride. (National Guard photo by Sgt.
