Land in Assumption parish is worth from $ to$ per acre. AVOYELLES PARISH. Avovellos parish is situated near the central part ofthe State, and contains ,520 acres of land; population,29,701. The formation is of several varieties; alluvial land,jirairie, bluff land and wooded swamp, the latter pre-dominating. The soil is fertile and productive. It isdrained by the Red, Saline and Atchafalaya Rivers, andBayous I-ong, Natchitoches, Avoyelles, DeGlaise andRouge. Water is plentiful and of good quality.
