Nuclear Polyhedrosis Virus

This is a cross-section from a coal-shaped nuclear polyhedrosis virus showing six clumps of virus rods in polyhedra. The round groups are end views; the rod-shaped groups show the longitudinal view. NPV affects insects, and has been used as a pesticide. This picture is enlarged several thousand times.
