Then Beachey, at the Chicagomeet in the latter part of August, rising untilhis gasoline was exhausted, touched 11,640feet; and, on September 4, Roland Garrosplaced the altitude mark at 13,943 feet. In asingle non-stop flight, Fourny accomplished447 miles in 11 hours. Vedrines, wdth two50-minute stops, made 496 miles in a similarspace of time, while Helles, with three stopsfor fuel, achieved 745 miles in 15 hours.
