Period of Occurrence: The species has been recorded from 7 April until 11 June and from 1 August through 24 October. There are casual records for all of the sum- mer months. Habits and Habitat: This large shorebird is found in Kansas around marshes, river bars, lakeshores, ponds, and temporary pools of water. During migration, the Willet is generally seen in small flocks. It is one of the larger shorebirds that passes through Kansas. Field Marks: The Willet's spring and fall plumages are different, but it can be identified at all seasons by the white and black wing pattern in.
