He was born in GreyAbbey,County Down, Ireland, September 6, 1848,son of James and Margaret (McQuaid) Gibson. In1882 he came to the United States, making his homein Belleville. Here he engaged in the boot and shoetrade, and in this enterprise he has enjoyed markedsuccess. His establishment is one of the most exten-sive in that portion of New Jersey. Mr. Gibson is a member of the Town Council otBelleville, having been elected to that position March10, 1903. In political affairs he is an active sup-porter of the Republican party.
