Maya vessel with seated lord, 7th century

7th century or 8th century AD Maya vessel with a seated lord reclining on a cushion. The figure is shown wearing a royal headband made of jadeite beads, reserved for Maya royalty. Drinks made from cacao would have been poured into this large cylinder vessel from a smaller vessel above it in order to make the drink froth.
