Jarrow entrance (south portal) to the Tyne Tunnel, Tyneside, Tyne and Wear, England, UK.


Passing beneath the River Tyne, between Howden and Jarrow, the tunnel is 5500 feet long. Commenced in 1961 and opened by Queen Elizabeth II in 1967. Consulting engineers were Mott Hay and Anderson the contractor was Edmund Nuttall Sons and Co.
