Roman arched entrance from Northernhay Gardens leading into Rougemont Gardens in Exeter city, England, UK
Quarried in Roman times for stone from which to build the adjacent city walls, the gardens incorporate a stretch of Roman wall and the only length of Saxon town wall to be seen in England. The grounds were bought by the city in 1912. Northernhay House was demolished at a later date and the gardens of Rougemont House were linked to Northernhay Gardens.
