Stained glass of 1915 in the south aisle of St Woolos Cathedral, Newport, Wales, UK, showing, from the L, the founding family of St Gwaladys, St Gwynllyw (Woolos) & their son St Cattwg (Cadoc, Cadog). Around AD500 the formerly pagan Gwynllyw was persuaded by his son, St Cattwg (Cadog, Cadoc), to build a wattle church here on Allt Wynllyw (Stow Hill) where Gwynllyw & his wife St Gwladys had their fortified home. Gwladys is traditionally one of the saintly children of St (King) Brychan, Gwynllyw a pagan chieftain of SE Wales. Cattwg founded a monastery at Llancarfan & ended his life as a bishop at Benevento, southern Italy.
