Heart and coronary artery evaluation. Coloured 3D computed tomography (CT) angiography scan of the heart (left) and coronary arteries (right) of a 49-year-old man. The scan is done to evaluate the state of the coronary arteries. Blockages of these arteries cause heart attacks. This is a left anterior oblique view. In the foreground is the left coronary artery (far right) and its major branch the left anterior interventricular artery (also called the left anterior descending artery). In the background is the right coronary artery. For this heart from an anterior view, see image C037/1800.
