Flowers for a few days have beGr?n in rather sliort supply and prices liav»c ad- vanced considerably. Hardly a fl- ower was to be found nt noon January 7, in cither of the wholesale markets, and January 9 saw another good clear n-up. Weather conditions have been umis*-ually favorable, with generally clear skic^ and no low temperatures. A continuaticnn of these conditions will soon increase sup- plies. Roses have made considerable ad- vances and for the last few days sTliort- stemmed flowers have sold at from* $10 per hundred upwards. There hasbc^^cn a strong demand for these and meodium grades. Young stock, with aboves 18- inch stems, has not been bough" t so eagerly. A fair number of Amecrican Beauties are now coming in; non -C of these, however, is New Englandgr own. Carnations are doing rather better than a week ago, with fancies bringing^ - $12 per hundred, and other grades, $8tcxD $10 per hundred. The quality, whiclii at Christmas was not of the best, is now improved, thanks to continued cnlcar skies. Violets are not doing particuMarly well and prices are not encouraging g to growers. Somehow violets seem to hliave almost entirely lost their one-time p -opu-. For Shipping Flowe
