Upon receivinghis commission he was ordered to CampLee, Va., where he remained until May15, 1918, when he sailed for France v^^iththe 3 1 8th Infantry. Arriving overseas,Lieutenant Turner took a two monthscourse in a French military school andthen returned to his regiment. On No-vember 4, 1918, while leading his pla-toon, he was instantly killed by shell Turner -was married on May5, 1908, to Miss Rose Vonder of Chi-cago, 111., vi^ho, with his parents, Mr,and Mrs. James R.
