Sappho is one of the most well known poetess in the world, and the only one of the antiquity. She was dedicated to lyric poetry and her poems are considered masterpieces, not only of her time but in the history of literature. She was a native of the island of Lesvos, Aegean Sea, Greece, and more specifically from the village of Eressos. This statue is located in the capital of the island, the town of Mytilene.
