The small bit of the GreatEmancipators hair is from anextensive historical collection ofEdward D. Neill, founder ofMacalester college, who onceserved as Lincolns secretary. It was given to Neill a shorttime before Lincoln was assasin-ated. Accompanying it is a yel-low, dog-eared note with thesewords: I do not know the bearer;but he says he has served inthe war, is disabled and nowwants employment—I shall beglad if he can get it. The note is dated Sept. 1,1863, and is signed by A. Lin-coln. The lock of hair is darkbrown with a few strands ofgray in it. It is valued at $100in the college also left behind an en-gr
