This handsome building, built of native stone and woods, was one of the most attractiveof the States displays. Granite, brick, and wood, which have such an enviable reputation,from Wisconsin, under the skillful hand of the architect assumed a shape which won everyvisitor. This building was fifty feet deep and had a frontage of ninety feet, exclusive ofthe porches, of which there were four, running the entire length of the building on the eastand west fronts, and one each in the center of the north and south elevations. For threestories above grade the walls were of Lake Superior brownstone, and the first story ofMenominee red pressed brick. The rest of the exterior finish was chiefly in dimensionshingles. In the angle of one of the gables was to be seen the coat-of-arms of the State,modeled by Miss Eunice Winterbotham of Eau Claire.
