The 8 House - 8tallet - in the shape of the figure eight - designed by the internationally well-known and acknowledged firm of architects, Bjarke Ingels Group (BIG) - has won The World Architecture Festival's prize in the Housing category 2011. To the left The entire building is tied together by a 1 km long footpath winding up and down along the fronts on all sides in a double loop. The path is meant as a natural meeting place for the residents and a safe route for the kids visiting each other. Like living in a mountain village moving around in a hilly terrain giving the opportunity to stop and enjoy the fantastic view on Amager to all corners of the world. Furthest to the right the Stævnen (the stern / bow) - another attractive building of rented flats.
