It is indeed onlyfrom this point of view that we should regard allthe literary labours of our author. They are Eng-lish poetical work of fine quality, dashed with apleasant outlandish flavour which heightens theircharm ; and it is as English poems, not as trans-lations, that they have endeared themselves evenmore to the American English than to the mixedBritons of England.
