Davidson (1881a : 355-7) also discussed the problem of Orthis berthoisi itself, which comes from the slates of La Couyere, Normandy (Rouault 1849 : 68; pi. 2, figs 4^c). Topotype material of berthoisi ( B 13233 in the Davidson Collection ex Tromelin), although severely crushed, leads us to agree with Davidson that erratica and berthoisi are not the same: until Rouault's types are revised, perhaps berthoisi is best regarded as a nomen dubium. The La Couyere slates are now known to form part of the Riadan Formation, which is late Ordovician in age (Babin et al. 1976a : 374).. â W^M ^^Bt^ â rm/^t ^^Hkk â ^fl| m. j-^mM.
