St Andrew's suspension bridge on the River Clyde,Glasgow


The bridge was originally built in 1854/55 by engineer Neil Robson as a replacement for the ferry which conveyed workers from Bridgeton/Calton on the north side of the river to Hutchesontown on the south. Built of wrought iron it has a span of 87 metres. The bridge has been repaired three times, in 1870,1905 and more recently in 1996/98 with the aid of european funding.
