At 1 :00 , a missionarymeeting was convened, to which allZion and proselyting missionaries hadbeen called in to attend. This meeting,in which every proselyting missionarywas given an opportunity to bearbriefly his testimony, lasted until7:00. President McKay delivered awonderful message of encouragementand inspiration to all the missionariespresent. That evening, after weeks of carefulplanning and hurried preparation, theAuckland Chapel was finally dressedand waiting for the arrival of Presi-dent McKay and his party. At the rearof the chapel a huge marquee had beenerected, into which television sets had O ;*wa *:^n. Chief Heperi, Ara Kupa and Maori group greet the McKays atAuckland reception. February/March, 1955 67 been placed, as they had been in theEoyer, Relief Society room, and class-rooms. The entertainment was pre-ceded by a welcome from the Districtand from Deputy Mayor Buttle, ofAuckland, who spoke very compliment-arily of our people. He said, though heattended many receptions for notablepersons, he had never seen a warmerwelcome. The Maori group presentedthe stirring haka, chants of welcome,the poi and action songs and stickgames. A special welcome in the tra-ditional Maori fashion was given byHohepa Heperi, 85-year-old Maorichieftain and warrior, after which hewas presented to President and SisterMcKay and he hongied with bothof them. At President McKavs requestChief Hepere sat beside him for theremainder of the evening. Other items included a special ar-rangement by Elder Jerold Ottley ofLand of Love which was writtenby his father, President Ottley, whenhe was here as an
