Illustration of developments in computer circuit boards made during the 1960's. The large brown board (left) is part of an ICL/Ferranti Atlas 1 machine (1963) & features transistors (black circular components arranged in row in centre of board) & other discrete electronic components. The smaller board (top) is part of the arithmetic logic unit (ALU) from a Univac 1108 computer (late 1960's) & possesses early examples of integrated circuits (the black, rectangular components). Further miniaturisation is illustrated by individual integrated circuits from an IBM 370 machine (1970's).
